A safe pilgrimage means checking for yourself.

Henro Navigator supports planning and orientation, but does not replace local signs, weather, closure, or emergency information.

Terms and safety information

Henro Navigator is an aid, not a safety guarantee. Local signs, official instructions, and your own judgement take precedence.

Emergency

In Japan, call police at 110 or fire and ambulance at 119. Do not rely solely on a phone, GPS, network connection, or this app in an emergency.

Navigation

  • Check the route before starting and during the journey.
  • Never enter closed, private, or visibly dangerous routes.
  • Online walking, bicycle, and car routes are non-binding previews based on external map data. They may be incomplete, unsuitable, closed, or prohibited for the selected travel mode.
  • Bicycle and car previews do not provide in-app turn-by-turn guidance; local traffic rules and signs take precedence.
  • Public-transport routes open in external map services; Henro Navigator does not confirm timetables, disruption, or connections.
  • GPS may be inaccurate in mountains, tunnels, cities, and dense forest.

Health and preparation

Carry enough water and food, weather and sun protection, and an independent way to call for help. App guidance does not replace medical, official, or local advice.

Content and availability

Routes, opening hours, lodging, and facilities may be wrong, outdated, closed, or temporarily unavailable. Offline features depend on bundled or previously loaded data. Continuous and error-free availability is not guaranteed.

Accounts and correction suggestions

Users must not submit unlawful content, passwords, or another person’s private data. Suggestions may be reviewed, rejected, or removed.

Facility data and verification status

Many facilities come from OpenStreetMap or other community and third-party sources and have not been inspected on site. “Source checked” means only that a source was reviewed; it does not confirm current operation, access, opening, availability, quality, or safety. Even dated operator, official, or field information can change. Especially for water, shelter, accommodation, and camping, never rely on a single listing, contact the operator where possible, and keep an alternative.

Observations and problem reports

On-site observations, suggestions, and problem reports are reviewed manually before any publication and may be rejected or removed. An approved, dated community observation confirms only that a user found the place—not access, opening, availability, quality, or safety. It can also become outdated and does not replace your own checks.
